Tokaj Szamorodni is one of the most famous wines of Tokaj, the name originates from Polish and means “As it has grown”. The wine contains 50% of botrytised aszú berries and 50% of green berries, which gives a special character to the wine. Slow fermentation in stainless steel tanks with approximately 0.5% increase in alcohol a day. 2 years of ageing in 220 liter Hungarian oak barrels. Special attention is paid to avoid intense oaky notes, therefore low toast barrels are used; 1/3 new, 1/3 less than 5 years old and 1/3 less than 10 years old.
The elegant nose shows apricots, mushrooms and integrated oak aromas. The palate displays hints of honey, vanilla, apricot and mango.
Excellent as an aperitif, or as an appetizer with goose liver. Best served at 10-12°C.
